Toshiba Satellite A35Here we go guys. I got a lot of requests for creating this disassembly guide for a Toshiba Satellite A35 laptop and finally I got it. A lot of people still have this model and I think this guide will be very useful for many of you.
Be careful when you are removing the heatsink, most likely the processor will come out attached to the heatsink. If you are not careful you can damage contacts on the processor.
When you assembling everything back, do not forget to lock the CPU socket or the laptop will not boot. This is a very common mistake.
Also, I received a lot of question on replacing the hard dive. It’s not hard at all. All you have to do is remove the DVD drive as it shown on the step 7 and you’ll find the hard drive under the DVD drive.

Toshiba Satellite A210/A215Here are instructions for taking apart the display assembly on a Toshiba Satellite A210 and A215 laptop. These instructions are not for beginners. In order to get inside the display panel on this model you’ll have to go through many disassembly steps.
You can use these instructions for:
- removing the hard drive, the memory modules and the DVD drive
- removing the keyboard with the top cover assembly
- removing the LCD screen, the video cable and the inverter board
I have no idea why Toshiba engineered it this way, you cannot remove the LCD bezel without removing the top cover. Weird! This is extremely service unfriendly model.

Toshiba Satellite M35This guide explains how to get inside a Toshiba Satellite M35 notebook and remove all internal parts. Even though Satellite M35 sounds almost like Satellite M35X, it’s a completely different model and requires different disassembly steps.
Hard drive, DVD drive, wireless card, both memory stick, battery and modem in this model are accessible from the bottom of the laptop.
In order to replace the cooling fan, you’ll have to disassemble the whole thing apart.
This model has video card with dedicated memory integrated into the motherboard. If your laptop suddenly started displaying some strange symbols or symmetrical vertical lines on the screen, probably it happens because of faulty video memory. Test your laptop with an external screen and check if the same defect appears on the external video. If it does, it’s a problem with onboard video card. In this case you’ll have to replace the whole motherboard.

Toshiba Satellite A105Here are instructions for getting inside the display assembly on a Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop. You can use this instructions for removing and replacing the LCD screen, video cable or screen inverter.
If you are only replacing the inverter board, you don’t have to remove the screen. The inverter board is located right under the screen and is secured to the screen cover by one screw. Just remove the screen mask as it shown on the step 6 and then remove the inverter.
If you are replacing the video cable, you’ll have to remove the LCD screen and also remove the keyboard strip. The video cable connector on the motherboard is located right under the keyboard strip.

Toshiba Satellite 1800 1805This guide will show how to remove and clean the cooling fan on a Toshiba Satellite 1805 or 1800 laptop. In this model you cannot simply access the fan from the door on the bottom of the laptop, you’ll have to get under the keyboard. As on most Toshiba laptops you access screws securing the keyboard after you remove the keyboard strip (steps 1-3). Do not disconnect the keyboard from the motherboard, just flip it over on the palm rest. Now you can disconnect the colling fan from the motherboard, remove it and clean with compressed air.
Before you install the cooling module back into the laptop, do not forget to apply a think layer of new thermal grease on the CPU. The old thermal grease can be removed with an alcohol wipe.

Toshiba Satellite A60 A65Toshiba Satellite A60 and A65 used to be a very popular laptop a few years ago, many people still have these laptop. This guide will show you how to take apart these laptops.
I’ve seen many Satellites A60/A65 but it looks like all of them have very similar problems:
1. Laptop tends to overheat. In this case you can remove the keyboard and clean up the fan and heat sink with compressed air.
2. Onboard memory failure. Sorry guys, if that’s the case then you’ll have to replace the motherboard.
3. Power jack failure. This problem is fixable but you’ll have to take the whole thing apart and replace or resolder the power jack.
You can find more information about these common failures here.

Toshiba Satellite A45Guys, replacing broken hinges on this model is not for beginners. During this repair you’ll have to open up both the laptop case and the display case. A lot of steps, a lot of screws. If you are doing this repair yourself, get organized.
Steps 4 and 5 will shown how to access the heat sink. Yep, this model tends to overheat. If your laptop shuts down during normal operation, most likely it happens because of overheating. In this case access the heatsink and clean it.
Be careful when you are removing the LCD screen. Do not press on it, handle it very gently. Be careful with the top edge of the LCD screen, usually it has “Do not touch” sign, so do not touch it.
Here are part numbers you can use to find new hinges for your laptop.
There are two different modifications (not sure exactly what the difference is). Some laptops have letter “C” stamped in the battery bay, I believe somewhere on the case under the battery. Some laptops have letter “S”. In some cases you can find this letter stamped on the bottom of the laptop base, no in the battery bay.
OK, here are part numbers:
For laptop with letter “C”
Left hinge: P000392250
Right hinge: P000392260
For laptops with letter “S”
Left hinge: P000394150
Right hinge: P000394160

Toshiba Satellite P10 P15 notebookThis guide will show you how to access and remove the hard drive from a Toshiba Satellite P10 or P15 laptop. It is not difficult if you know where to look for the hard drive. LOL.
OK, here it is. The hard drive is located right under the CD/DVD drive. The optical drive is secured by one screw. Remove this screw (shown on the step 2) and carefully pull the CD/DVD drive from the laptop. The hard drive is located right under the metal plate.
When you replace/upgrade the hard drive, do not forget to transfer the shielding (foil) from the old hard drive to the new one.

Here’s my second tutorial for this model. This one will explain how to remove and clean the heatsink. Your laptop shuts down without any reason? The laptop runs hot and is much slower then before? Check the heatsink, most likely it’s clogged with dust causing laptop overheating.

Finally, my third tutorial for Satellite P10 and P15 series laptop. This tutorial explains how to take the whole thing apart and remove the motherboard.

I would recommend to read through all three tutorials if you decide to fix laptop yourself.

Toshiba Satellite P20 P25This guide will help you to get inside a Toshiba Satellite P20 or P25 laptop. Let me tell you guys up front that taking this beast apart is not for beginners. Lots of screws, lots of connectors.
Some basic stuff like removing the hard drive, DVD drive, both memory modules, wireless card, modem or even the cooling fans with heatsink is not difficult, because all these part can be easily accessed from the bottom of the laptop. But removing and replacing the motherboard is kinda tricky.
If the laptop overheats - clean the heatsink. Just remove the cover and blow off the cooling module with compressed air. It’s not necessary to remove the heatsink in order to clean it up. In most cases cleaning it with compressed air will help you to fix or prevent the overheating issue.
You’ll have to remove the heatsink only if you are taking the whole thing apart, replacing the processor or applying new thermal grease on the processor. Be careful. When you pull the heatsink, most likely you’ll pull the processor too. It will come out attached to the heatsink. Carefully separate the processor and install it back into the socket. Make sure you unlock the socket before inserting the processor and lock it after it is installed. It will help you to keep the processor safe.

Here’s another guide. You can use this guide for taking apart the display panel. In this guide you’ll find illustrated instructions for removing or replacing LCD screen or inverter board.

Toshiba Satellite M105This guide will help you to take apart a Toshiba Satellite M105 notebook. You are welcome to post any tips and comments about taking apart/fixing or upgrading this computer.
This model is very similar to any other modern Toshiba notebooks.
Hard drive, CD/DVD drive, modem, wireless card and one of the memory modules can be easily accessed from the bottom. In order to get to the second memory module, you’ll have to get under the keyboard as it shown on the steps 9-15.
In order to remove and replace the cooling fan, you’ll have to remove the motherboard. If you feel uncomfortable doing that, take your laptop to a professional repair center.
