Im guessing and told it only ran down the screen. The screen is very dark to the point where you can hardly see it. Does it sound like a dead inverter? Cheers cj2600

Any ideas why it isnt working??? I have no idea what an inverter does?

With liquid spills it’s hard to tell what is wrong. Do you know if liquid went down to the motherboard?
The inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp inside the LCD screen. Without inverter (or failed inverter) the image will be very very dark.

Is the noise coming from the hard drive area? Could be bad hard drive.
You can remove the hard drive and boot the laptop from Live Linux CD (Knoppix for example). If the laptop works fine with Knoppix, most likely the hardware is good.
