When changing the exhaust fan I inadvently pulled out a black wire from a connector on my video card. This black wire and adjoining white wire go to my LCD display. They have a snap on end that snaps on to the video card. Where can I find those wires to replace the one I have. I have a Toshiba model A105-S101 laptop. And if you could give me a part number as there is none to be found on the wires.

joey,

can you replace the screen without taking out the inverter. thanks

Yes, you should be able to remove and replace the LCD screen without removing the inverter board. But you still have to disconnect the backlight connector from the right side of the inverter.

I just received a clients laptop about two weeks ago with this issue. A Satellite P205-S6347. He finally told me, on Friday last week, that his son was experiencing these issues all the way up until its failure. I've tested two seperate LCDs, one of which was new, and three separate inverters, two of which were new, to absolutely no effect. You can see the faint image of the windows desktop in the background but there's no backlight. My last, final, attempt would be the LCD data cable. Anyhow, I was hoping that someone had some advice or perhaps success stories in relation to the data cable, before I tell my client to purchase one. Thanks in advance.

Problem on Post 11, Dave's P205

I had the same problem and found an area on the back of the screen about one inch down, under the tape that did not have pressure on the edge of the screen. I could tell by applying pressure between my fingers in a pinch mode. I had the screen lose at the time. When I held the pressure the screen worked fine. To fix I cut a peice rigid foam 1"L X 1/2"W X 1/16"T from a hobby store and taped in place from the side metal to the screen holding pressure on the foam. Do not put the foam on the metal side piece. It has been working two weeks with no problems. I hope this helps someone. Thanks for the other information on how to disassemble which helped me greatly.

I just received a laptop from a friend who spilled a small amount of wine on it. P205-S8810 is the model. I recently took the entire laptop apart and cleaned anything that looked "dirty". There is MINOR corrosion on the spot where the touchpad plugs into the motherboard, but the connection appears to still be 'fine'. I try to power on the laptop and everything sounds like it is going fine but the video card fan stops after about 3 seconds and then everything sounds like it is in a an idle stage and does nothing. Nothing shows up on the monitor and nothing appears on an external screen either. Everything else appears to be functional. I'm just wondering, what would exactly cause the initial boot to stop and most likely fail post and nothing appear on the screen at all. If it is the motherboard then I am willing to spend ~$300 for a new motherboard and replace it... But if it is something else that could be fixed by replacing a chip or re-soldering a connection that would be great. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
