Microbiosoft,

I not sure but I saw two very small black point in the lcd inveter maybe caused by short not sure

I doubt that your problem is related to the inverter board. The screen lights up so the inverter board works properly.
Most likely it's one of the following:
1. Bad connection between the video cable and LCD or motherboard.
2. Damaged video cable.
3. Damaged LCD screen.

I cannot tell which one is causing the problem without testing the laptop.

I have a toshiba satellite laptop when i open it up its lose the screen falls down? how can i fix it.

Sounds like both display hinges are broken. You'll have to disassemble the display panel and replace both broken hinges.

Luke,

I have a satellite L20 101. It has the same diagnosis as most of the users. A vertical line appears on the right of the LCD. I have yet to try it out with an external monitor but I would like to know if it’s worth purchasing the screen online? My local Toshiba distributors charged 470euros for a replacement screen!

I think for 470euros you can buy a brand new laptop. :)
If you have nothing to lose, you can try replacing the LCD screen yourself. You can buy a brand new LCD screen on eBay for 110-120USD and replace it yourself.

jhkyhm,

I have M50 model.

I also have LCD problem.

So, I want to try to change new backlight first and then new inverter.

What do you think?

It depends on the type of problem you are experiencing.

Jim,

I’m repairing an M55 for a friend. The video is intermittent but mostly absent. It’s a black screen with the back light on. When I unplug and plug the monitor (see picture) you can see the video momentarily. I checked all the connections and they are tight. Any ideas as to what could be the issue?
Could be bad video cable.
Did you test the laptop with an external screen? Does it work all the time without any problem?

Yogesh,

I have Toshiba M55-S3314. Last nite I took apart the bottom part of the laptop.(Not the screen).
Now, the screen is not turning on. It is total black. I have checked the video cable on back of the screen. It is hooked up proper. I can’t figure out any other reason why it is not turning on. The connection on the motherboard is proper.
First of all, you'll have to test the laptop with an external monitor. Will it work?
If the external video output doesn't work either, there is something else going on with the laptop. Make sure the memory is seated correctly.
