Toshiba Satellite A20 and A25. How to remove keyboard and upgrade memory modules.
Removing and replacing memory on a Toshiba Satellite A20 or A25 notebook is not as easy ad it should be. Both memory modules are located under the keyboard. A laptop keyboard has to be replaced in order to get access to the memory modules. Before you remove the keyboard do not forget to remove the laptop battery or you can damage the laptop. Be careful when you remove the keyboard securing strip; do not bend it too much. To remove the memory module from the slot on the system board, release the latches on both sides and the memory module will pop up. It will stay at a 30 degree angle to the system board. Firmly grasp the memory module and remove it from the slot.

Solomon,
You can get the information you need from the bad memory stick, most likely it would say PC2100 (I found that this model uses PC2100 in the laptop specification), it’s DDR memory. For this model you can install 128MB/256MB or 512MB memory stick in one memory slot. This model support up to 1GB (slot A + slot B).
You can also remove the bad memory stick and take it to a computer store, a salesmen should be able to find a compatible memory for you.

I have a broken left hinge I have searched the internet and prices for the one hinge vary from $75 – $170 USA. This site seems to have the best price I don’t know how reliable they are yet.
With the instructions from this excellent site. I am going to strip my laptop and check to see exactly what part I need then await delivery and then reassemble.

Andrew,
This model comes with onboard video. The video card is not a separate module, it’s a part of the system board. You cannot upgrade the video card on Toshiba Satellite A20/A25.

Dane,
Usually the key for accessing the BIOS (Setup) is written under the Toshiba logo on startup.
Satellite A20/A25 laptop should support up to 1GB total, so shouldn’t experience any problems. Check if both memory modules are installed correctly and seated properly. Try to install them one by one in the slot 1 and then in the slot 2. Start the laptop after each step and see if both memory modules work fine. I believe you have to press Esc or F1 when Toshiba logo flashes on startup to get into the BIOS, do not remember exactly because all models are different (may be F2).

I’d like to start with thanks for the info on the TE 2100. I do have to inquire into whether or not it is possible to use a different type of video board in the TE2100 other than the originally installed board. The original is dead and I am finding quite a challenge to actually find a replacement. The other issue with the original is that it is a tad bit limmitted being a 16MB card.
