Toshiba Satellite M45 display disassembly guide will help you to remove the LCD screen and replace the FL inverter board. It is very easy to take the laptop display assembly apart, but you have to be careful. Never use screwdrivers to separate the LCD mask from the screen top cover! To remove the LCD screen mask use your finger. Put your fingers between the LCD mask and the screen and start separating the mask from the LCD screen cover. Sometimes, when the mask plastic latches are tight, I use a guitar pick to disengage them. I put the guitar pick between the mask and the top cover and slowly move it along the side. The screen mask is made of very thin plastic and you can easily break it if you not careful. After the mask is removed, everything is straight forward. In this model the video cable is glued to the LCD screen so you have to use some force to separate it from the screen. When you unplug the inverter board cables do not pull the wires. Use the connector edges to unplug it.

Thomas,
There is no special tool. You can open the locking tab with your fingernail.
Carefully lift one side of the brown locking tab up. When it’s opened it stays at a 90 degree angle.

Question on cables removal from motherboard on M45 series STEP 17
Although this probably holds true for every model, I am unsure how to remove the cables from the mother board without breaking the locking tabs.
I had to remove a similiar style cable on a Playstation 2 and broke the locking tab but was able to use tape to keep the cable from moving when I did reassembly.
Is there a special tool that is used? I am thinking a guitar pick but that seems too wide and probably break the clips.
thanks, tom

My inverter does not need to be replaced, I was just stupid and cracked the screen, do I still need to remove that or can I skip that step?

I had a problem with the backlight on my Toshiba M45-S331. I bought a new FL inverter board and installed it a month ago. Everything ok. But two days back the problem comes again. It comes on for a short period of time and then goes out. I can see a dim image when that happens so I know it is the same problem. I tried to find out the real problem. But fails. I touched at the tips of the backlit with a probe of mulitmeter then its work better, when i remove it then the diplay goes off. i think some internal oscillation error is going on. Any body have any idea pse email me

Hello. I’ve got two toshiba satellite, (M45-169 and M30-801) The M45 has the lcd wxga(glossy) broken and the M30 has the mother board broken. I would like to know if i can put the screen of the M30 (mate) in the M45. The only thing it is no compatible are the wires for the inverter. Does anybody knows if there is a problem if i cut the wires of the mate screen (M30, green and pink) and match them with the inverter of the M45 (white and pink).
Thnks

I have replaced a broken lcd screen with a new one on Amilo M7440 laptop. The problem is that the machine starts but very dim and the function keys for brightness do not change the brightness. I can log on to windows xp but the screen is barely visible. Very dim. I suspect the backlight converter. If this is the case which I put to the panel, where would I get a backlight converter?
Thanks
