I was given a TE2100 and the inbuilt wireless card doesn't appear to be working. I can't see anything obvious in the bios and have updated the bios from 1.40 to 1.60. the wireless switch is on but the LED doesn't show anything.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04. Before I pull it apart.
Do you think this could be a driver/ubuntu issue ?
Or is this more likely to be a loose connection/faulty part.

Display issue in Win XP Pro. When TE2100 LCD display restarts after entering power saving mode ie BIOS setting, sometimes only the upper 1/2 of the LCD is visable, the bottom 1/2 appears streched or with vertical stripes. Plugging an external monitor in shows display is fine. I can get the LCD to display correctly by accessing screen settings and changing screen resolution down to 800*600, accepting and changing it back to 1024*768 and accepting. Then the LCD displays correctly, so its not likely to be a hardware issue. I have tried updating drivers etc, no effect. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

>>THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS GUIDE!
>>
>>I pulel dmy hair out for ages over a dodgy inbuilt mouse spot on this old te2000 i have, it had a mind of its own and woudl pull to one side, i coudl never stop it with uninstall of drivers etc. This guide enabled me to pull the unit apart and splice the ribbon connector between kb and mobo (the small one on the l/h side is the mouse) disabling the on board piece of tripe for ever!
Now this unit is usable again!

For those with a similar issue and they cannot get the accupoint drivers, just disable the internal mouse in device manager (Win XP) and plug the external one in. Saves having to hack the accupoint joystick hardware.

Hi
RE: tectra 2100
I am looking at this website on
taking apart a toshiba tecra 2100
the speakers DO NOT POP right off..as pictured
I cannot get them off at all...with the risk of cracking the plastic-also there seems to be square buttons on the back of each speaker which you do not mention in your website-but they are not helping me remove these speakers
I cannot get this laptop apart
I already cracked the plastic power button cover/protective shield on front
the pictures make it look like
Voila-the speakers pop right off
Not on this tecra they dont..
I really need to get this screen off to change the lcd ribbon cable badly
any ideas or advice?
I am at MY wits end with this computer
and NO
these laptops do not come apart as easily as it looks on your website
seems to be held together with
cement-or
auto bondo i mean it!
this is i factory condition
so-either toshiba GLUES all the plastic the parts On
OR I dont know what-there's a little gold looking screw thing UNDER the speaker-not a regular screw-maybe like a star shape..i cannot remove..
anyway-the speakers will Not come off unless I break them off
I already CUT/spliced the LCD ribbon wire trying to
"easily" remove the plastic piece that's over the keyboard..I had to PRY it off
I maybe should invest in a sledge hammer with this laptop
anyway thanks
if you know another way to REMOVE this screen id appreciate it alot

Glad it pinpointed the problem for you Nestor. If it were not for this forum, I would have never had the guts to tear into and fix my laptop. I would feel guilty I didn't try to help.
If anyone finds a good cheap source for the vga transboard, please post it.

Thanks.
